LAND OF MAKE BELIEVE Celebrates 6 Decades of Fun Reality

Land of Make BelieveAugust 6, 1954, Hermann and Marie Maier opened their dream destination focused on intertwining parents and their children with the amusement park experience. Since that time, their vision has evolved to what Land of Make Believe is today bringing generations together for wholesome family fun nearby in Hope, New Jersey.

That same focus on kin translated through the park’s 60th Anniversary Celebration where LMB made the dreams of winning a new Ford Escape a reality for one lucky family September 1. The SUV wasn’t the only new “ride” in store this season!

Unveiling a new sensation in LMB’s water park experience was Pirate’s Escape. Take heed as a buccaneer delivers fair warning “time to escape” then drops the floor out from under. The thrilling sensation of plummeting into the abyss is met with relief as guests plunge into a refreshing pool below.

“We really wanted to score a home run,” says Hermann and Marie’s son Christopher Maier. The current owner calls the SUV giveaway and new Pirate’s Escape water ride a “Grand Slam” in the park’s efforts to illustrate his parent’s ambitions focused on family.

Ever the leader in ecotourism, picturesque mountains covered in lush greenery lend the perfect backdrop to enjoy an afternoon outdoors in the valley LMB calls home. Keeping this preservation in mind, the park has expanded through the years attracting visitors from near and far with acres of rides and shows.

Phyllis Oppenheimer, with the New Jersey Department of State Division of Travel and Tourism, congratulates the Maier family for providing visitors “A great tourism experience.”

Other public officials, including NJ State Senator Mike Doherty, echo Oppenheimer’s sentiments with testimonials of their own family experience over the years. Many invite others to join the growing list of generations that share memories of LMB.

Recalling the experience shared with his wife and three sons at the resort, Doherty sums LMB up calling it a “Magical, wholesome place to bring the entire family.”

Land of Make Believe is located just off Route 80 at Exit 12 in Hope, N.J. and open daily through September 1 with a Grand Finale planned for the weekend after Labor Day. Call (908) 459-9000 or visit www.LOMB.com for more park information.
