Pancakes & Propellers…Annual Fly-in Drive-in Event Takes Flight May 24 at Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport

Pancakes and PropellersFlippin’ flapjacks and flyin’ high are on this year’s Memorial Day weekend agenda as aviation enthusiasts make plans to take flight at the Aviation Day and Fly-In Drive-In Breakfast set for May 24 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport.

The annual gathering two decades strong, started with intentions of introducing the wonders of aviation to the public. It has since evolved to become one of its sponsors, Mt. Pocono Rotary’s, largest fundraisers.

Focusing on worthy causes throughout the community, the Rotary selected Gregory W. Moyer Defibrillator Fund as this year’s beneficiary. Established after the death of their fifteen year-old son in December 2000, John and Rachel Moyer’s efforts have been responsible for training thousands of people in the use of CPR and AEDs. Facilitating the placement of AEDs throughout the country both through direct donations and by convincing decision makers of the need for AEDs in schools, as well as, wherever people gather.

“It’s an honor for Greg’s fund to be the recipient of this year’s Aviation Day Fundraiser,” John said adding, “Any money raised will be used to donate life-saving defibrillators (AEDs) to organizations within our region.”

Admission to Aviation Day is free with military equipment, motorcycle and antique car displays, activities for the kids, along with various sights to see including a 1:30 p.m. Veterans Ceremony and Parachute Demonstration.

Rotarians will be serving up morning delicacies during the All You Can Eat breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at $10 for adults and kids under 12 $6. Airplane and helicopter rides bring in additional dollars for the cause as Moyer Aviation and Hi-Tech Helicopters donate the airborne excursions.
