Water-WAYS to Play!

Kittatinny Roll LGFamily owned and operated Kittatinny Canoes continues to amuse with a variety of outstanding outdoor adventure opportunities. Founded in 1941, the Delaware River destination situated near the Kittatinny Range of the Appalachian Mountains has evolved to a top notch recreation spot boasting “One of the largest fleets of canoes, rafts, kayaks and tubes in the world.”

Take your pick…Whether seeking these water ways to play: canoeing, rafting, kayaking and tubing; or land fun, Kittatinny runs two riverfront campgrounds, paintball facilities and zip lines. Dates are in place to introduce the love of a new sport and help maintain the resort region, capturing the group’s passion for the river.

Another Learn to Kayak Day is set for Sunday August 24. Sending an invitation to “challenge the river on-on-one, guides instruct you on a river journey in “easy to use” kayaks. Reservations with deposits are required so become inspired to try a new adventure this summer!

Moving on to responsible river recreation…For over a quarter century Kittatinny Canoes has devoted efforts to preserving close to 70 miles of Delaware Riverside taking two days to tackle the task again July 18 and 19 in their Annual River Clean Up 2016.

Maintaining a dedicated focus on the beautiful natural resources of the Pocono Mountains region, the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River, along with, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area are the targets of this massive preservation effort that has enlisted thousands of volunteers over the years.

Last year reporting an impressive, yet disheartening, nearly 450 tons of trash collected consisting of close to 8,800 tires and more than 8,600 pounds of aluminum cans, reminds all of the massive buildup one piece of litter can snowball into.

Asking all to bring it-don’t fling it and consider canning, Kittatinny’s stand on stomping those colossal numbers can succeed.

“Every cleanup is like a big reunion,” they say hoping all who revel in the aquatic splendor, consider joining in. Calls to RSVP are required with returning volunteers accepted first and new volunteers added to a waiting list.
